On Saturday Old Wulfs hosted an U12 round robin tournament entering two teams Beowulfs and Old Wulfs also there were two teams from Wolverhampton and a team from Finchfield.
Beowulfs won three games and diplomatically drew with Old Wulfs. Old Wulfs were very diplomatic and drew every game. All the boys played well, Rajveer played in goal for the first time and did so very well. 7 year old William Evans made his competitive debut, to good effect. Finn scored three goals 2 against Wolverhampton s U15 Midlands keeper. Dan Taylor and Jake played well throughout supported by Ricky ,Noah and Rocco. Dan Jandu only conceeded two goals.
In the other team the brothers wall and Rowley played well supported by Tom Calloway and Dylan and the irrepressible William.
On Sunday we travelled to telford for some more U12 7 a side this time five games.
In the first game we put in a sleepy performance against telford tigresses , missing numerous chances , and eventually conceeding a goal right at the end of the game final score 1 1.
The boys discussed the performance and performed better in the second game beating Stone 1 0.
They then ran out comfortable winners 3 0 versus Shrewsbury Lions.
A 0 -0 draw against Shrewsbury Tigers followed a good performance just lacking the finishing touches.
Best performance was the last one a 2 0 victory against a strong telford tamers side. Two cracking goals from Dan Taylor.
Dan, Finn and Dylan scored our other goals.
The Barnsley boys returned from illness and contributed well, Noah and Ricky maintained the defensive wall for most of the games, Tom played well and once he learns to stay calm will score plenty of goals. Dan only conceeded one goal a good effort only three goals conceded in 9 games.
Well done one and all thanks to all the umpires over the weekend and to the parents for supporting your children.
