U13 Tournament

We welcomed Finchfield and Wolverhampton to WGS to play in a 7 a side round robin set of games against our two sides Old Wulfs and Beowulfs.
Once our players finally turned up we got off to a great start with Old Wulfs beating Wolverhampton 6-2 and Beowulfs overcoming Finchfield 2-0.
Beowulfs then beat Wolverhampton 3 0 and Old Wulfs drew 1-1 with Finches.
In the decider between Old Wulfs and Beowulfs, Beowulfs controlled most of the possession with Jake, Joseph and Harry combining well. But Old Wulfs were always dangerous on the break with Dan Taylor, James and Dylan supported by William.
Old Wulfs took the lead through a well-constructed fast break leaving Dan the keeper outnumbered 3 to 1.
Beowulfs then equalised from a Jake Aldersley short corner to make it 1-1 at half time. Old Wulfs started to get more possession and Dan Jandu had to make a number of one on one saves including a super full length diving stick save to deny Dan Taylor. James Wall eventually put Old Wulfs 2-1 up, only for Joseph Meliis to round Rajveer and equalise and end the game at 2-2.
A special mention to nine year old Fraser who tackled well and passed to one of his own players every time – an example others should follow!
Overall, well done to our teams, six games and no defeats.
