U12 7-a-side games at WGS

We hosted an U12 7-a-side round robin with teams from Telford, Finchfield, Wolverhampton and our two teams Old Wulfs and Beowulfs.
Our boys had very mixed results with Beowulfs winning every game and Old Wulfs being the perfect hosts and finishing second in each game.
Beowulfs started slowly against an improving Finchfield side, some over confidence from previous victories causing a lot of mediocre play. The second half saw an improved performance and a through ball from Dan Taylor released Jake Aldersley to score the only goal of the game.
Telford were Beowulfs next opponents, a very strong team who had beaten us twice recently. This time the boys were on thier game, Noah and Ricky taking care of Telford's excellent strikers, DanTaylor, Jake and Joseph Mellis controlling the Midfield, Isaac Barnsley and Fraser Lovegrove creating space up front for the Midfield to expose. However despite dominating the half when in the D, we forgot to shoot.
The second half was similar but we did make thier keeper work, eventually getting a deserved winner via a Dan Taylor wobble through the Telford team, with a neat finish into the corner.
Wolverhampton were comfortably beaten 2 0 with goals from Joseph and Dan.
The final game was against our other team so we mixed the teams up a bit. Joseph put Beowulfs 3 0 up at halftime with a hat trick. Joseph then swapped sides and scored for Old Wulfs, Finn then got Old Wulfs back into it by scoring. Dan Taylor made it 4-2 to Beowulfs and 7 year old William Evans made it 5-2 with a neat reverse finish.
The next tournament is on 17th June at Aldersley and we will balance our two sides a bit better next time. Thanks to Bob Munn and Michael Birch for umpiring and all who helped in shifting the goals and tennis nets.
