Mixed results for the U14s

Our U14'S travelled to Coventry for the third round of games , against Coventry NW and Harborne .
Coventry has beaten Harborne 10 - 2 in the first game.
With Dyan and Jag making their debuts our lads set about Harborne a bit too enthusiastically , 8 - 0 in ten minutes game over, under the mercy rule of a game finishing when an eight goal gap is achieved. With hindsight we should have rotated our squad quicker to achieve a more balanced gane.
Coventry were a much stiffer test, Dan had a Mr Magoo moment mistaking there centre forward for one of our players! then being surprised when he scored instead of clearing the ball.
A minute or so later Coventry went 2 up with a shot crashed into the far corner from the top of the D.
The boys battled back and forced a goal in only to concede again from a short corner.
3 1 down at halftime in truth it could have been 8 1 but for a barrage of quality saves from Dan, that's a direct quote from their rather loud supporters.
Second half the boys set up in a more defensive formation and got a 0 0 second half ,again aided by a sprinkling of saves from Dan.
Lot's to learn from this game and I'm sure we will come back stronger and better. We will now be joint top with Coventry .
