Changes To Training
Posted by Nobody on 2 December 2013
Over the last couple of years we have lost a significant number of junior training sessions due to inclement weather and/or safety issues surrounding frozen pitches.
As a result of this we are going to try something new this year and bring junior training (the group run by Roger Cooper) indoors from NEXT WEEK and will hold the sessions in the School Sports Hall instead. However there will be two important changes to the routine;
1.Training sessions will have to move to MONDAY night as the Sports Hall is not available to us on a Tuesday.
2.The sessions will be an hour (6.30 – 7.30pm) rather than 75 minutes long.
This arrangement will begin this Monday (2nd December) and at present we plan to carry this on until the last Monday in February. By doing this we hope that we will be able to introduce young players to indoor hockey, remove any concerns parents may have about young players being outside in very cold weather and reduce the number of training sessions that we lose when the weather tends to be at its worst. It also has the advantage that there is somewhere warm where parents can stay and watch the training if they wish and avoid the need for two return journeys.
Normal inside PE kit is all that is needed, plus shin pads, gumshields and sticks.
Improvers and senior training will continue to run outside at the astro on Tuesday but will now run alongside each other for a two hour period from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
Charges for both session will remain the same at £2.
If this change causes you any problems then please accept our apologies, but we have decided to try this in an attempt to ensure that we maximise training opportunities for our younger attendees during the worst of the winter period.
