Bob Purshouse

It is with great sadness that we to have to inform the membership that Bob Purshouse suffered a massive stroke last Monday from which he did not recover, passing away peacefully early on Saturday afternoon surrounded by his close family.
Bob was a keen and very active member of the club, both on and off the field and this very distressing news has come as a great shock especially to the more senior members.
After leaving Manchester University in 1965 he played regularly in the first team. He was Hon. treasurer from 1966/67 to 1968/69, Hon. secretary from.1969/70 to 1971/72 and Club Captain, Hon. secretary and Young Wulfs fixture secretary from 1972/73 to 1974/75.
He joined Cannock HC for the 1975/76 season and remained a playing member there.
He was appointed Vice president of OWHC in 1985 and played in many of the overseas trips for Old Wulfrunians hockey club veterans teams.
As a governor at Wolverhampton Grammar School he was instrumental in the relaying of the pitch at school and the negotiation with the club for the extended pitch hire agreement.
The club's thoughts are with Helen and the family at this sad time.
UPDATE
Bob's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 18th April, at 1.45pm at St Michael’s and All Angels Church, Tettenhall.
This will be followed by a cremation service for family members only.
All are invited for refreshments at Wolverhampton Cricket Club following the service.
