Youth flourishes at Stone

After a shaky start against a very able West Brom ‘3rd’ team side (0-6) Old Wulfs settled down and picked up some creditable results
1 – 1 versus Stafford
1 – 1 versus Telford
2 – 3 versus Pebbles (after being 2-0 ahead)
1 – 0 versus Stone
The result put us 4th in the 1st round standings. In the afternoon the top 3 teams qualified for the main Trophy and the bottom 3 contested the Shield.
In the shield the youngsters came on in leaps and bounds and we beat Pebbles 2-0 and thumped Stone 6-0. This meant that we finished as Shield winners.
A rewarding day with the youngsters (Ryan Harding, Adam Aldersley, George Jandu, Tom Ward, , Elliot Gwilt and Owain Gwilt) getting some valuable exposure to 3rd team hockey. This was in addition to some of our more experienced younger players (Andy Cooper Jr, Sam Coleman) and the old heads who made up the rest of the squad (Tutton, Birch, Jandu, Lally, Cooper, Rowlands, O’Sullivan and Upton)
