Badgers Indoor Tournament

Old Wulfs sent a young side to the now annual Badgers indoor tournament at Aldersley, and the boys did well to come away unbeaten for the second year in a row.
The squad was Dan Jandu in goal with Ricky, Jake and Paul as defenders, Dan Taylor in midfield with Finn, and Rajveer and Joseph as forwards.
In the first game against a largely older Kingswinford side, our lack of experience showed, as we gifted the ball to concede possession on many occasions. We also played too close together in possession and the marking at the back was poor. Despite this, Joseph scored a nice goal intercepting a sixteen and slotting past the keeper. Kingswinford got a deserved equaliser for a final score of 1-1.
After a lot of between game coaching we faced an intimidating looking Old Hales side, but the boys put the coaching into practice and ran out comfortable 3-0 winners with 3 short corner goals – 2 for Jake and 1 for Dan Taylor.
Next we faced a skilful Olton side that had put the other teams to the sword. We played very well but went a goal down early. However, our short corner routine came to the rescue again with goals for Joseph and Dan Taylor. Dan Jandu then had plenty to do in goal and despite his heroics Olton equalised, for a final score of 2-2. An excellent game and performance.
Finally, we outplayed but only beat Redditch 1-0 with a nice individual goal from Dan Taylor.
All in all, a massive improvement as the day went on, and well done to George for umpiring.
