Match Report | A narrow defeat against a side 2 divisions above saw Old Wulfs continuing their encouraging pre-season campaign. Midfield lynch-pin Ablard withdrew during the first half to protect a hamstring twinge, leaving the bare 11 to fend off Kings Heath. The visitors pacy attack was thwarted and frustrated by a combination of an indefatigable Dave Cartwright and 'no votes' Wilson. And it was 'no votes' who put Wulfs into the lead, converting the only penalty corner the home team won all day. Litchfield and Humpherson in midfield without Ablard looked imperious although at half time the 1-0 lead looked a little fragile considering Wulfs were bound to tire in the second. Despite conceding an equaliser Wulfs continued to pass the ball well, but a well taken penalty corner put Kings Heath into the lead before Birch found Ashworth at the back post to calmly level things again. A scrappy winner for the visitors wrapped things up. Man of Match: Litchfield. |
