Match Report

The corresponding game at the start of the league season was a tough 2-2 draw, Jim Tranter not playing for Telford, we thought they would have no one to run their run their midfield, unfortunately this did not prove to be the case.Telford had a good selection of hard working youngsters, and a point to prove. We started strongly with Telford not mounting an attack in the first 15 minutes. Whilst we started strongly and got plenty of balls in the D we failed to get the ball into the goal . Telford slowly began to gain confidence and had some attacks but none too serious. They struck with a lucky goal from the second phase of a short corner which we had not adequately cleared. The half time team talk was all about tightening up of game and taking control of the match, we failed to do this, we did not play particularly badly, but we did not stamp our authority on the game. We have comeback from being down several times this season, by playing to our strengths and closing the game down. In the second half we looked a bit rusty and did not show the desire to close out Telford. Telford got a second goal from a strong charge through into the D from our 25. We managed to strike back with a goat from Gary o'Sulivan picking on a good through ball from Sam Coleman. This gives us more confidence but we failed to capitalise on it, with Telford scoring a third goal with 5 minutes to go. We will have to up our game as the second half of the season progresses.
