Match Report | This match looked in doubt at 9.30am with the WGS pitch covered in snow, however with signs of a possible thaw a decision was taken to press on, with calls for volunteers to arrive armed with brooms to clear the playing surface. Incredibly by midday the snow had disappeared leaving a number of redundant brooms propped against the cage for the afternoon (by the way someone remind me I left mine down there). Wulfs controlled the game from beginning to end, although as with Whitchurch in the previous game were unable to open the scoring before half time. And in another uncanny repeat Wulfs scored 4 in the second. AND Mark Wilson scored twice. Weird or what? The only difference was that for the first time this season Wilson received a man of the match vote (this has been disputed and put before the dubious votes panel to compare the handwriting against that of the man himself). Wulfs defence were rarely tested, to the extent that the keeper didn't touch the ball once in the game. Surely no match fee required then?? Dave Cartwright forgot his shorts. Alex Gray came home to twiddle his stick which he did with great effect, but it was Ablard who claimed man of the match for controlling possession in midfield. Ed Hole and Chris Tutton both messed up great opportunities, although Chris made up for it with a goal. Ablard smashed the first past a helpless keeper; Wilson scored from a penalty corner and another from open play. Just a personal note: if your captain has to double up and play another game but has gone to the effort of buying a load of samosas (which by the way my car still stinks of) I'd have thought you might show at least the courtesy of saving just one for him to go with his beer... not a crumb remained. Charming. Next up Bloxwich for a top of the table crunch match in the shadow of the M6.
