Match Report | Wulfs had to be patient against Whitchurch with their returning goalie on top form. The first 15 minutes belonged to the visitors with sustained periods of intense pressure, but it only lead to a succession of quality saves, most notably from a close-range Mark Wilson effort. Wulfs then began to get a little frustrated and allowed Whitchurch into the game a little. 0-0 at half-time but it had been a dominant performance, and Wulfs soon took the lead in the second period from a Dave Ward penalty corner smashed inside the left-hand post. Wilson doubled the tally with an unstoppable drag-flick. With 11 minutes to go the Whitchurch skipper called for a big final effort, but were almost immediately killed off with two more goals from Ed Hole, and the best of the bunch supplied by a precise ball from Tutton for Wilson to slot home. A great team-effort overall and superb performances from Birchy and man of the match Litchfield. |
