Match Report | The Invincibles were well and truly vinced by a determined Pershore side, who took the lead early on with an angled shot. Wulfs defence were troubled by the pace of attacks and struggled to hold Pershore at bay as they broke through with counter attacks. Fortunately Dave Ward was able to dispatch a penalty corner, one of several chances created before half time, the others denied by a decent goalie or by missed efforts. Wulfs came close to taking the lead at the beginning of the second half, their best passing move of the game ending with Ashworth firing over the bar. Instead it was the home side who went ahead again, catching Wulfs on the break once again. This time Ward got the chance to level again but missed a penalty stroke, only to then convert a penalty corner with a mis-hit. Dave Cartwright was unfortunate to concede a stroke whilst attempting to clear off the line - 3-2 to Pershore, then another defensive slip allowed the fourth. Just one of those days when it doesn't happen for you - despite creating the most chances Wulfs went down to their first defeat. |
