Match Report | Wulfs won a poor game with some ease. Yardley posed one or two problems early on as Wulfs adjusted to the East Birmingham climate, but were soon pushed back by the league leaders. Dave Ward turned a penalty corner into a penalty stroke and duly dispatched it himself. Then Griff slipped home the best goal of the game after a move that started with a Wilson aerial. Yardley then imploded, passing a 16yd hit straight to Griffiths while the keeper was still returning from having collected the ball. Fail! 3-0 at half time and it could have been several more. The second half was something of a cakewalk as Wulfs totally dominated possession and pushed higher and higher up the pitch. It's safe to say that aside from Will Ashworth's two goals, it could have been double the score as Ablard and Litchfield roamed wild like a pack of hyenas. But not laughing ones. And not like hyenas. Alan Brown fell into a coma and subbed himself off, although Yardley could have scored on the counter thanks to the very high-press, but Pearson wasn't about to miss out on a clean sheet. Not a particularly satisfying game, but another vital 3 points away from home. Man of the Match: Matt Litchfield. |
