Match Report | Will Ashworth opened his account for the season with a brace as Old Wulfs crushed Whitchurch 6-1. Wulfs dominated from the start, with flowing passing movement and denying the visitors an opportunity to threaten. Litchfield and Ablard found the space to control the midfield, and created a series of chances before Ablard converted a scrambled penalty corner to take the lead. Soon Ashworth doubled the score with a clinical finish and Wulfs for 2-0 up at half time. The home side made sure of the win early in the second half when penalty corner specialist Mark Wilson powered into the net from 16 yards. Ashworth bagged his second and Tutton extended his scoring streak to make it 5. At 5-0 Whitchurch had their only spell of pressure, forcing a flying save from Colin Pearson before burying a penalty corner for a consolation goal. Matt Griffiths produced a clinical finish to make it half a dozen. Man of the match: Litchfield. |
