Match Report |
Playing away at Stone on a very exposed pitch was made even more challenging with a cold and howling wind with the occasional bursts of sideways rain. The badgers started strongly in a 4-4-2 formation. The experienced platform at the back, with the mighty Quinnie in goal gave Kai, Tom and Kieren the opportunity to control the mid-field, tackling well when Stone pushed forward. The familiar front two of Sam and Callum had a number of chances and Sam capitalised twice in the first half with two cracking goals, one playing off Callum. 2-0 at half time. Stone came out positively in the second half and controlled the game and after scoring on the break, capitalised again to make the scores even. The badgers sustained a further period of pressure with Luke, Jack, Ryan and Ben in defence, together with Tom and Kai battling hard to absorb the attack. It felt like the momentum had turned away from the badgers with 15 minutes to go, but once again the team pushed up and controlled the centre of the pitch with Kieren providing an extra option at the front left of mid-field. Turning the tide once more, the badgers created more chances, one of which Sam put away with a blistering strike at a tight angle into the top of the goal. Full time 3-2, well deserved win. Sam was named man of the match by his team.
