Match Report | Chris Nightingale (1), Chris Tibble (1), Mike Birch (1) The 2s went into this week’s crunch game against Redditch knowing that only a win would do after disappointing recent results. After a cagey start Wulfs began to show their superiority, creating several chances down the right through Satchwell. We eventually took the lead with around 20 minutes gone, with a well worked short corner finding its way to Nightingale at the near post, who showed a ‘captain’s example’ (as he put it), by pushing into the corner. By half time we were two goals up, excellent work from Cooper down the left found Tutton in the ‘D’ and he crossed to Tibble who reversed home at the back post. Good defensive work throughout was helped by solid performances from Birch and Roberts in the midfield, allowing us to keep control of the game, and midway through the second half Birch secured the win, firing another short corner past the Redditch keeper. A much needed win, a second clean sheet of the season and an important step towards safety. With six games to go we are four points clear of the relegation places and still have key games against two of our main rivals to play. An important month is coming up, but our destiny is very much in our own hands.
