Match Report 2nd Team Match Report. Old Wulfs-5 Vs Leamington-2   Last week saw the 2s take on a side with very similar stats on paper, however by the final whistle Wulfs had put in perhaps their strongest performance of the year.   Leamington started the game strongly with Old Wulfs struggling to maintain possession in the early minutes. Leamington then scored perhaps the luckiest goal a forward could ask for when a stray cross that 'was' going out for a 16 actually hit the post and rebounded nicely for their CF. The hockey Gods then decided that their goal was a little harsh towards us and blessed us with a goal via Ed Hole who smashed the ball into the D to take the faintest of touches off a defenders stick and into the goal. The rest of the half saw Wulfs pretty much run the play and went in at half time wondering how the score was still 1-1!   The second half started off in a similar fashion to how the first half had ended with Wulfs putting consistent pressure of the Leamington defensive line. Eventually Cooper managed to fire in a cross and Rowlands managed to deflect the ball into the goal. Our third goal came soon afterwards when Tibble ran through the Leamington defence to fire the ball into the bottom corner. Now for the 2s, whenever the scoreline gets to 3-1 we somehow start to switch off! Two quick successive yellow cards for Cooper and Nighters saw us reduced to 9 men and Leamingotn managed to bring the score back to 3-2. Oh dear. Nevertheless, the defensive play of the Wulfrunians back line was more than up to the challenge.    After the ten minutes of pressure from Leamington Old Wulfs began to turn the game back in our favour with Tutton scoring off a short corner. But I probably didn't need to tell you that as Tutton's celebration could be heard as far away as Exeter, true fact. Our fifth goal came from a nice break away with Tibble and Coleman linking up well resulting in Coleman slotting the ball under the Leamington keeper.    This result sees the 2s secure 7 out of an available 9 points and has taken us from the relegation zone to mid table!    MOTM: Same Coleman. Again cracking work from the young winger. If he learns to play hockey as well as he can down a pint of beer then he is a sure fire candidate for the GB hockey squad.
