Match Report

Ludlow 2 - 2 Old Wulfs   After losing to Ludlow previously in the league 5-1 and a narrow defeat in the vase 3-2. Old Wulfs were looking to better their fortunes.

Old Wulfs started the game with a solid 4-4-2 formation and were quickly tested by Ludlow, but the Old Wulfs defence stood strong with the midfield running hard and working well for each other. However Ludlow were very lucky to take the lead when the ball struck a Ludlow foot as blatant as you like, however the umpire missed this and Ludlow capitalised by passing the ball past on rushing Colin.

As baffled Old Wulfs were by the goal they continued to work hard and were awarded with a short corner after some good work by Ashworth. Mark skilled past the two runners and lifted the ball over the keeper, but on to his glove where Ablard applied the volley finish. Old Wulfs then stepped up the pressure and scored a second as some wonderful link up play on the left saw Litchy on the base line aiming for Ashworth, however a Ludlow player rudely scored instead of Ashworth. 2-1 at half time.

The second half was a high tempo much like the first, with some interesting decisions for both teams, the game did get scrappy and as a ball broke free from the right griff wound up and put the ball in the top left corner.... No goal... Cue confusion. However the game continued and Ludlow were awarded a short corner for a clean challenge by Mark.

The short corner wasn't the best as the initial routine was stopped however the rebound fell kindly for a Ludlow player who finished past a frustrated Old Wulfs Defence. The last five minutes it was backs to the wall time as Ludlow thought they could go for the win but the defence stood strong and the Ludlow creative players resorted to stick blocks and emphatic football dives to win the game, but they had left it too late and Old Wulfs played the game out for the draw. 2 points dropped for Old Wulfs as they were much the better team.    Man of the match Litchy
