Match Report | Leamington is Old Wulf's bogey team - year after year we travel there only to face a disheartening defeat. And it happened again. The home side started the game extremely strongly, and if it hadn't been for some real stalwart defending it could have been a cricket score by half time. It was only a rather fortunate deflection of Ben Humpherson that put Leamington into a 1-0 half time lead. The prodigal son Andy Peters must have wondered what on earth he had let himself in for; however Wulfs battled back into the game, only to be unable to convert chances that started to be created by the endeavor of midfield triumvirate Litchfield, Griffiths and Ablard. Peters showed flashes of his undoubted ability, but was tightly marked in the second half. The second goal came thanks to a near post abberation but let's just blame the defence shall we? The accusatory look in Griffith's eye as the ball hit the backboard spoke volumes. Shortly thereafter Leamington scored their best goal; a cross tapped into an empty goal sealing another Warwickshire capitulation. A very large helping of lasagne back at their clubhouse eased the pain a little but it was humble pie for dessert I'm afraid. |
