Match Report | Beacon are a new club formed by the merger of Aldridge and Walsall, and Streetly. It reminds me of when we used to play against Beacon All Stars at East Park about 100 years ago. As is usual in our league Beacon were a side of youth and experience. As is also usual they were a friendly bunch so we had a pretty enjoyable afternoon. Ahmed joined us for the first time this season and gave us some width that helped us dominate the first half. With Jack Tolley, Lovepreet, Branav and Rithick we had some good energy in the midfield which was boosted by being supported by Dave Carver who pushed forward from left-back. We took the lead in the first period thanks to some great work from Branav and a clean finish by Jack. We could have scored more, but didn't. Charles Nash dragged the defence all over the place making space for the young 'uns to charge through. Beacon rallied in the second half and pushed us back for a while, resulting in the equaliser. All in all I'd say this was our best team performance so far this season. Lots of genuine passing moves, working the triangles and all that malarkey. Teas: Packet sandwiches, pretty good. Man of Match: Dave Carver |
