Match Report

Old Wulfs welcomed Lichfield 4s to WGS looking to build on the previouts week's win in our rearranged fixture against Stone 3s, and keep the pressure on Cannock and Newport in the race for the league title.

Injury and unavailability meant Wulfs went in to the game with a slightly different formation - one which gave us more attacking intent and this showed within the first 5 minutes with Minton slamming home on the reverse to give the home side an early lead. Some really nice hockey was played throughout the half and Wulfs controlled the ball very nicely, allowing for a 3 - 0 lead at half time with a delightful lift over the keeper from Archie Harris and a short corner strike from Adam Aldersley.

Half time came and we understood that to properly see the game off, a fourth goal was needed and this was duly delivered by Harry Flanagan, taking advantage of a deflected ball in the D which looped high, with a beautifully taken overhead smash past the helpless Lichfield keeper. Further goals from Oliver Harris, Simon Evans and a second of the game from Minton meant the home side equalled their highest tally of the season, with Lichfield getting a couple of consolations through the half but never close enough to get them in the game.

A good performance for us to go in to next week's clash with Sutton, who did us a favour by beating Cannock.
