Match Report | Old Wulfs made the trip to Chase Park to play against Cannock 2s - a team whom Old Wulfs are challenging for second spot in the league behind Newport. Prior to the game we discussed the need to hold the ball, retain possession and play our game to unsettle a Cannock team who, whilst good on the ball, can be got at. The last instruction was to not concede another early goal as we did last week... Which we spectacularly failed at as the home side opened the scoring against a sleeping Old Wulfs within the opening 30 seconds. Not the best of starts, but the away side built in this to push Cannock back and just about have the lions share of the game, coming close to scoring on a couple of occasions. Cannock however scored what can only be described as a 'flukey ass' goal - the ball somehow looping a good 20ft over Archer and still able to drop into the net, with the scorer not having a clue what he did or how he did it, but overjoyed to give Cannock a second goal. For the remainder of the half, and pretty much all of the second, the teams could barely be separated - both defences playing well and midfields battling - with Cannock perhaps having the best of the chances but unable to unduly trouble Archer in goal. Old Wulfs got a deserved consolation from a PC after the game, through Flanagan, but the 2-1 defeat against our closest rivals is still hard to take. MOTM - Darryl Ablard Scorer - Harry Flanagan
