Match Report | In our first game since the 3rd December, Old Wulfs 1s made the trip to Bridgnorth to play the some side's 3rd team, in what has traditionally been a close fixture. Having not played for the best part of 7 or 8 weeks, Old Wulfs recognised the need to maintain some early possession to get used to actually playing hockey again after a long period. The game started very well with excellent passing and movement meaning that the away team were firmly in control - some short corners coming close to breaking the deadlock before a great passing move culminated in Finn Townsend ghosting in from the left to receive a cross, calmly take the keeper out of the game and slot home for an early lead. Wulfs continued to press but a combination of good defending and goalkeeping kept us at bay. Bridgnorth started to grow into the game as some sloppiness crept in to Wulfs' play and a couple of poor goals were conceded in a 5 minute spell to give the home side a lead. Just before half time the equaliser came from top scorer Harry F to ensure the teams went in level at the break. The second half was a fairly even affair, with Wulfs probably having the better of the play but unable to beat the Bridgnorth goalie. The home side clearly tired as the game went on and Wulfs scored their deserved winner through Harry F with about 5 minutes to go, which seemed to knock the stuffing out of the home side, allowing Wulfs to see the game though safely. A good game played in good spirits, and Wulfs go into the double header with our title rivals with a degree of confidence. Goals: Finn Townsend, Harry Flanagan X 2 MOTM - Harry Flanagan
