Match Report

Old Wulfs 1s visited the newly formed Beacon Hockey Club for a game under the lights, keen to keep momentum going.

Beacon started the game the better team, with an extremely hard press, forcing Old Wulfs in to a number of early errors and mis-controls, which through good defending didn't lead to anything. About 15 minutes in the hard press took its toll on Beacon and, visibly tiring, Old Wulfs took control of the game and never looked back, with probably 20 minutes of the best hockey seen at the club in a very long time.

Excellent movement on and off the ball meant Old Wulfs were totally in control. The scoring was started by Adam Aldersley, picking the ball up at the edge of the D and taking it in to round the keeper.

This was swiftly followed by an excellently taken hat trick by Angus Watson - two from drag flicks which were too much for Beacon to handle and a third from open play, excellently taken after a spell of relentless pressure. Wulfs' play deserved a lot more than the 4 goals and came close on numerous occasions - Adam Aldersley hitting the bar possibly the closest chance which didn't end in the back of the net.

The second half followed the pattern of the first, but despite constant pressure and more flowing hockey, the goal tally wasn't added to, but yet another clean sheet was able to be chalked up.

All in all a fantastic performance from everybody - we move on to next week's local derby with Finchfield full of optimism
