1st Team Vs Bridgnorth 3s

Old Wulfs 1s welcomed Bridgnorth 3s to WGS on a lovely sunny afternoon - perfect conditions for a game which Wulfs have typically struggled in during recent seasons.

Both teams came in to the game with different approaches - Wulfs keen to build on the great team play which has developed over the last couple of games, and Bridgnorth trying to build as much of their play as they could through their best centre midfielder. The first half was a tight scrappy affair, with Wulfs trying to play through the middle too much but Bridgnorth unable to cause Wulfs any concerns when they tried to build attacks, with the defence very much on top.

0-0 at half time and Wulfs recognised the need to move the ball more, work for each other and use the full width of the pitch, which was then done to great effect. The Wulfs attacks became more and more dangerous and eventually the pressure told when Harry Flanagan finished off a lovely passing move which left the Bridgnorth defence at sixes and sevens. Bridgnorth, as expected, increased the pressure, with their key player trying to exert more and more influence on the game, but still the defence held firm a d frustrations towards the end of the half led to a couple of green cards, which put an end to the momentum they were trying to build. 

In the end, Wulfs held on very comfortably and were well worthy of the win. An excellent defensive performance meant MOTM votes were shared amongst our defenders, with it being too close to call in the end between Dave Cartwright and Jake Aldersley, both of whom were excellent.

Onwards we go, with only one goal conceded in 3 games (and that was a ridiculous stroke of luck at that) and league top scorers and early pacesetters Newport our next opponents.
