Match Report | Old Wulfs 1s welcomed another of the early pacesetters in NW7 to a very sunny WGS in Keele University Men's 1s, with the home side full of confidence after last week's convincing win against Oswestry. Further buoyed by the news that Keele were only able to bring 10 players to this game, Old Wulfs were keen to start the game on the front foot and immediately put pressure on the Keele back line. A blistering start saw Oliver Harris and Gareth Minton fire home from short corners, plus Archie Harris and Harry Flanagan finish off flowing attacking moves within the first 10 minutes to put Old Wulfs firmly in control. At that point Old Wulfs seemed to step off the gas a little and, although Keele tried to press forward, the defensive unit of MOTM James Wall, Jake Aldersley, Dave Cartwright and Gareth Minton easily fended off any breaks Keele tried to muster. The second half was a slighty scrappier affair, still controlled easily by Old Wulfs with Keele trying to catch the midfield out on the break, but mostly in vain. A further 2 goals for current top scorer Sunny Singh and a well deserved effort from Dan Taylor put the gloss on a great afternoon down the Valley. Not quite top of the table given strong starts by Cannock and Newport but Old Wulfs are full of confidence going in to next weeks game against Bridgnorth 3s. Goals: N. Singh X 2, A. Harris, O. Harris, G. Minton, D. Taylor, H. Flanagan MOTM James Wall
