Match Report

Let's just get this out the way first: Discipline is becoming an issue in this team and I really can't be any more frank other than to say that everyone in the side needs to improve their attitude and make sure they do not suffer the wrath of umpires as we can't afford to have any less than 11 on the pitch at any time. Ok so I got sent off again and I'm very embarrassed about it.

It was another good friendly game (other than me losing it with the umpire) and it's hard to have a local rival grudge match when the opposition are such a nice bunch. An 11am start on the sandpit at Aldersley is always likely to be a challenge though. First half was fairly even although we made the better chances with Charles having probably his best game of the season in a new role in attack. A great return to the team for Jules Myatt but we sat back a little in defence perhaps because Harj was unavailable this week.

Second half was much better and Dave Parnham opened the scoring with an unbelievable Messi-like run from the halfway line and a calm finish.

Roger Cooper scored the second with a bullet-like penalty corner finish.

Wolves pulled one back but it was a penalty corner after the final whistle so no chance for an equaliser.

Man of the Match: Dave Parnham for that goal but also a great all-round performance (despite asking for a sub after scoring because he'd run so far).
