Match Report | Another excellent team performance resulted in a 2-0 win against the newly formed Wednesbury third team. The fourths started well and created many opportunities but as usual we couldn't score. Dheeraj Kumar's short corner strike being cleared off the line by a defender. The best move of the half was expertly finished by debutant Seb Ricketts. Sadly the umpire ruled it out as the ball was lifted in the build up. The defence of Dave Carver and Martin Cox prevented many opportunities for Wednesbury, with Matt Horton in goal and Neil Ward at sweeper providing a very strong back line. We started the second half brilliantly forcing two successive short corners. Neil Ward's strike was deflected in by Ben Farmer. He really deserved the goal. Old Wulfs continued to push forward and created several more good chances, however the Wednesbury goalkeeper was in great form. Eventually Raj Duhra scored his first goal of the season. There were a few nervous moments, but we held out for a great win. Dave Carver saved an embarrassing situation by clearing well under pressure. Other notable performances from Eddie Thompson, Vishwas Kumar and Manny Bains. Bob Munn rolled back the years with several timely interceptions. Well done everyone. A big match against Stourport at home next week. |
