Match Report | On the sandy beach of pitch 1 of Aldersley, the 4ths played a highly competitive match against Bromsgrove 5ths. We dominated the first half with the only thing missing being a goal! The formation of Thompson, Bains, Farmer, Anderson and Jones carved open the Bromsgrove defence but the perennial problem of no goal scorer went against us. Kumar and Brain made their debuts and with Duhra R, they all played well. The score was 0-0 at half time. The second half saw the return of David Ward, replacing Farmer who was due at work and had to go. Unfortunately despite the downhill advantage, we fell behind to a sloppy goal. Sadly, the old legs couldn't create an opening although perhaps we should have been awarded a penalty stroke, rather than a penalty corner. Ward D hit a short corner well which hit the defender's leg on the line. The umpires deeming the ball was going past the post. Perhaps on another day? The whole team played well and I can not fault anyone's effort. Bring on Wednesbury next week. |
