Match Report | Travelling to Leek with just 11 players was always a risk. We started very well with some super midfield play a won a string of penalty corners. Leek looked rattled and struggled to escape their half. The inevitable happened after 15 minutes, Jones tore his calf muscle and was unable to carry on. Leek immediately began to dominate and scored from a deflected shot. Lally hurt his achillies and struggled on but we were under the cosh. We conceded again from a PC but still managed a few good breaks. Second half things got worse. Johnson took a knock on the foot reducing him to just jogging. We conceded another from a PC Shakespeare, forced into a midfield role by the injury to Johnson pulled a hamstring and had to be helped off. Wilson acquired a 5 minute suspension and we conceded a 4th. The team battled on despite having only 9, 7 uninjured, players on the pitch and were unlucky not to grab a concilation goal in the last few minutes. This was a great effort by the team and the 4-0 scoreline flattered Leek. I'd also like to comment that the umpiring was very good, fair and consistent throughout.
