Hockey can be a funny old game...

With confidence high from last week's second half against Bridgnorth, OW 2s wanted to get off to the best possible start against a North Staffs team newly promoted to this division. Within 8 minutes Wulfs has taken a 2-0 lead, but unfortunately not in goals... After 2 minutes Minton succumbed to an injury and a mere 6 minutes later it was the same story for Roberts. Only having 12 available meant we had to see who was least injured to come back on. A reshuffle of positions saw Wulfs concede through some indecision, but also knew that following a couple of close efforts towards the end of the first half, that there was still plenty in the game for us, even with an immobile centre forward and a couple of other players very kindly filling in positions they wouldn't normally be asked to - Thanks Seb, Sahib and Tibble!!

Wulfs agreed at half time that all things considered we hadn't played badly in the first half, bit needed to focus on what we were actually able to to to get us back in the game. Very quickly a break led to great build up between Mellis and Minton, allowing Williams to slot in his first (of hopefully many!) Old Wulfs goal. The Wulfs press continued to push N Staffs back and as a few errors crept into their game as they sensed an opportunity to retake the lead, another break led to a goalmouth scramble where the ball was finally put away by Evans. The game was then seen out fairly comfortably with NStaffs pressing very high to try and find a breakthrough, which in all honesty never looked like coming, giving Wulfs a deserved and very hard earnt win.

MOTM this week is a tricky one as the team as a collective unit out in a great performance, but captain's pick this week is Dan Taylor, who had a very strong game in centre mid.
