Match Report | Old Wulfs 1s took on Newtown in the second game of the season. They started quickly and took the lead when Alex Gray started and finished a neat 2-1 with Will Ashworth. However, after this, Wulfs let Newtown back into the game after missing some good chances. The away side won themselves a penalty corner which eventually led to a scrappy equaliser. 1-1 at half time. In the second period, the home side began to reassert their dominance, with the direction of play only going one way. This pressure paid off when Wulfs won another penalty corner and Gray got his second, dispatching into the bottom right. The next goal came when an aerial was lifted into the area to Owen Shave who then classily lifted the bouncing ball over the onrushing keepers head. The game was truly put to bed when Will Ashworth made it 4-1, collecting the ball at the top of the D with his back to goal, swiveling, and firing home into the bottom left. An unsure start, but a good second half and result in the end. Man of the Match: Alex Gray |
