| Match Report | Starting the season with 10 players and no goalkeeper was not ideal, but the 4ths were indebted to the club president who volunteered to play as our goalkeeper. After finally assembling our goalkeeper the 4ths started slowly against a robust Tamworth team, but the defence were not really stretched until 20 mins when their forwards fashioned a 1 v 1 with the president. OW fought back immediately with Ben Farmer converting from close range after good work by Bains. Tamworth scored just before half time to lead at the break. After the restart Tamwoth discovered our Achilles heel - shorts - and preceded to convert at least 5, with the president unable to match their strike rate! Mann R added a second via a deflection at a short, but Tamworth added a couple more. Hard work, but special mentions to J Harris and S Callaway for impressive first league starts - and if any club can match the commitment of an 80 plus year old volunteer goalkeeper then we look forward to swapping stories... |
