Match Report | A very competitive game played in atrocious conditions, OW2 faced the challenge of early league leaders Market Drayton at WGS, looking to vastly improve on the previous week's performance. We didn't start well. 2 balls through to MD2's (and runaway league top scorer) front man resulted in OW2 going two goals down early. At this point OW2 started to play some much better hockey, broke down further MD2 attacks and started to increase pressure ourselves. All the way to half time the game remained in the balance, with OW2 pushing the league leaders back, but just not able to create a clear cut opportunity. The second half started as the first finished, with both sides knowing the next goal would be crucial in determining the result. A Wulfs goal would have raised confidence but it wasn't to be. A MD2 free hit on the halfway line resulted in an unopposed run to our D and the through ball was clinically finished. A harsh lesson to be learnt about tracking runners. MD2 followed up with another quick goal from a 2 on 1 and as much as OW2 tried to push for a consolation goal, it wasnt to be. Overall 4 0 could be seen as harsh on an OW2 team who pushed the league leaders to the limit for long spells, and gives us a good platform to build on when we visit Aldridge and Walsall next week.
