Badgers Vs Telford & Wrekin

This week Old Wulfrunians badgers travelled to Telford and Wrekin hockey club. When we arrived we knew that we were going to be in for a challenge facing a badgers team which was much older and physically stronger than ours. The game started off with Telford having all the possession and scoring within the first 10 minutes after the ball hit the inner post and went in. In the following 15 minutes there was some great one two passes between George and Ian and with Old Wulfs having a couple of break a ways. In the closing stages we conceded 5 penalty corners. Three of the penalty corners resulted in goals and the other two well defended by Mike and Martin. This made the score 4-0 at half time.

The second half was a completely different change of play with Luke stopping every shot which came at him and some great runs/breakaways from Sundeep. The 5th goal came from a well hit ball from the top of the D deflecting off one of the badgers sticks and went flying into the top left hand corner. After this Old Wulfs badgers never looked back and had some great play in midfield involving Ralph and Sam. In the closing stages of the game the 6th and final goal had arrived after the ball had been slotted through the near post to make the final score 6-0 to Telford and Wrekin badgers.

To end with I would like to say that it was a great effort by Old Wulfs badgers after battling against a team which was a good 2-3 years older.
