Match Report | A frustrating game for us really as despite losing two of our University players to a higher team, we dominated the game with most of the possession, a string of short corners, good passing moves and plenty of pressure on the opposition's "D". In fact we did everything right - except put the ball in the back of the net! This is not to say that Edgbaston were in any way overawed by us - they absolutely weren't and although they had less attacks, when they did break they moved the ball well and on a number of occasions caught us on the back foot. When that happens sooner or later a goal is going to result which it duly did about 20 minutes into the game, when a snap shot/deflection from a forward went in off the inside of the far post. It's hard to be critical as everyone played well, both individually and as a team, though special mention should go to James Wall for a particularly good performance out on the left wing. In summary, we would probably argue that we were unlucky and the better team on the day, but if your definition of "better" includes the requirement to score more often than the opposition, Edgbaston with some hustification might beg to differ! |
