With player availability in the Club being even more challenging than usual this week, and despite having 11 players available by Thursday evening, 5ths ended up travelling to play Stourport 5ths with 10 players. Stourport had a group of very capable young players, supported by a group of very capable senior players, and presented a stern test. Stourport also provided two excellent umpires. The team did well to restrict Stourport to only two goals in the first half, but despite lots of hard work the extra number told in the second half and we conceded another six goals to end up losing 0 - 8. During this time we also lost a player to injury, and so for about a quarter of the game we had nine against eleven. Everyone gave of their best and although the scorline is not great the team performance in the circumstances was excellent. Ben Wall covered most of the pitch several times over; Ray Jeff made some excellent leading runs to find space to receive passes; Steve Rowlands made some excellent saves. Hopefully the team will have a full complement for next weeks' game.
