The 5ths had no 'new' players this week, but some introductions were as from our pool of 30 players so far not all had met each other previously. Bournville 4ths were a strong side and we played with a lone forward and added player to the midfield to try an counter the pace and quality we were facing. We were 0 - 1 down at half-time but had been defending effectively (and Steve Rowlands had saved a penalty stroke before Bournville scored) without making much impression on the Bournville defence. Manny Bains scored a goal his unstinting effort as the lone forward deserved to bring us level at 1 - 1 and we enjoyed some furtrher pressure after equalising. Sadly we then had a 20 minute spell where the positional discipline broke down and Bournville took advantage of this dissarray (5 times...), the final score being 1 - 6. This scoreline was harsh on Steve Rowlands who had made several terrific saves in addition to the penalty stroke. Apart from the nightmare 20 minutes when the performance was poor, the team worked hard against good opposition.
