Match Report | The 4ths welcomed Cannock to WGS for an important bottom of the table clash. The skippers instructions were clear, keep a clean sheet! The game was even throughout. The opposition striker went on a fine solo run which resulted in a fine save by Horton; Mann should have scored after good work down the right, but couldn't get his feet round the ball. Farmer squeezed the ball wide after a snap shot by Mann was saved Both sides traded short corners; Horton making a another fine save, Lally having his strike disallowed for being just too high However half time saw a 0-0 scoreline The 2nd half saw OW utilising the width provided by Sankey, Murray and Bains and finally the breakthrough was achieved - Anderson picked out Mann, who managed to control at ful stretch, the ball was laid into Bains who drove to the near post, looked to cross but saw the keeper move to cover and rolled in. OW continued to press, stretching Cannock, Anderson having a short corner just deflected wide, and the defence were very good in closing down any threats, there was no nervous final few minutes and the win was closed out. A great team performance and a deserved win, and instructions were followed - clean sheet! |
