4th Team Vs Bridgnorth 6

OW 4ths welcomed Bridgnorth 6ths to WGS. A barren week in terms of availablilty meant OWs included  their regular match manager in the starting, and finishing, 11.

The game started in an open manner with Brdgnorth testing Dads army with some direct running, but the old 'uns stood strong! A short corner was deflected round the post by Munn and the demands for a stroke dismissed by the umpires. Fisher J was causing problems down the right and half time saw a  0-0 score.

The start of the 2nd half saw OW absorbing pressure and Bridgnorth broke the deadlock with a fine goal, a reverse stick deflection from a slightly lifted cross - one suspects the player will go  a long time before repeating the feat!

OW applied pressure and the keeper made good saves from a Mann short corner, but the break was still on... Bains, Savage, Mann, Thompson and Fisher all workied hard to create chances but the Bridgnorth defence held out.

On another day a draw would have been fair, but in the end another close defeat. The 4ths gave their all in a fine team performance (and the 85 year old had a fine game too!)
