|Result||D 3 - 3|
The thirds welcomed Buxton 3rds to WGS for a floodlit encounter, the last before the mid season break. An even first half saw both teams go close but with no breakthrough. The closest chance being a Buxton drag flicked short corner plucked out of the air by Lally.
In the second half both defences were busy, with Dilworth and the back 3 of Cooper, Maan and Lally working hard to repel Buxton. Eventually a goal came for the visitors, Lally impeded a young attacker at the edge of the D, the umpire deemed this a deliberate block on a goalscoring chance and awarded a flick which was duly dispatched.
The young Wulfs admirably kept plugging away and earned a short corner which Jandu dispatched, Jandu was then set free to put Wulfs in the lead.
Buxton responded and earned another flick, Maan deemed to have stopped a goalscoring opportunity with his foot. Initially given as a short corner the decision was changed after consultation between the umpires. This time Dilworth saved to keep the lead. Then a bizarre chance where a long ball into the D deflected off Dilworth onto the post, with the goal at his mercy the attacker fired straight at Dilworth.
Having weathered the storm Wulfs were unlucky to concede an equaliser, Wilson robbed the attacker bearing down on the D but was deemed to have obstructed him, from the resultant free hit a goal was conceded.
With both sides chasing a winner, Buxton scored again. Again the Wulfs fought back, Jandu unluckily hitting the post. With a few minutes remaining Becket worked his way into the D and in the ensuing chaos Jandu completed his hattrick.
A creditable draw in a game played in good spirits. The Old Wulfs youngsters - Aldersley, Becket, Ward, Taylor, Melis, Wilson and Taylor put in a fantastic effort today. Promising signs for the future.
