Match Report | Old Wulfs travelled to Tamworth to play their seconds – a team that have been rooted to the bottom of the table all season, with a total of just three points so far. The result, then, was never really going to be in doubt. Last time they were put to the sword 9-0 and in this game, the main challenge was to see if that total could be beaten – which it was. Wulfs managed to win by a hefty 10 goals to 0. As in the previous match report for this fixture, I don’t really see the point of detailing a blow-by-blow account of such a one sided game. And despite the score line, this wasn’t even a particularly entertaining or fun experience, due to: a) Tamworth’s defensive tactic of parking at least two defenders who sat permanently in their D, thus nullifying any attempt of attractive, flowing play from Old Wulfs, who basically just lived off scraps to score most of the goals. And b) Some highly questionable and bizarre decision making from one particular umpire, who baffled and bemused both the home and away sides in equal measure. As I referred to previously, none of the goals were particularly outstanding so I’ll just go through who got them. Two each for Andy Hobley, Matt McNay, Will Ashworth and Daryll Ablard. And one each for Archie Harris and Rich Saunders. Man of the Match – Matt McNay |
