Match Report | This was almost a carbon copy of our last meeting with Cannock 6 - a stoic defensive performance in the first half meaning we started the second half only one goal downbut with Cannock taking the initiative in the second half. You know that when you play a Cannock side who are top of the league by some way you are going to have to handlea well drilled team with skill and speed... and we did this really well. In the first half we worked really heard to stop them passing and moving and apart from one collective slip which resulted in the goal we contained Cannock and absorbed the pressure. Half time came and Cannock's frustration was palpable but the second half brought a change in tactics where they decided that their best approach was to play for short corners. Whilst we continued to close them down in open play and had a number of attacking oportunities ourselves, we were just not sharp enough in dealing with short corner routines that were clearly practiced by all concerned and all the subsequent goals came from these. Nontheless a big improvement by everyone this week. We just need to play like this against other sides in this league. Steve Rowlands |
