Match Report | A second positive result in two weeks. The thirds beat local rivals Finchfield by 3 goals to 1. Old Wulfs started impressively and spent the majority of the half in the attacking third. Gray opened the scoring with a fine effort. This was followed soon later by a lifted pass from Cooper Jr which Green completed. Completely against the run of play a Finchfield attack caused confusion in the Old Wulfs defence and went tamely in. Finchfield back in the game with their first real attack. Soon after a slick passing move resulted a shot which was well saved by Dillworth. At the other end Gray was unlucky when his shot hit the post, other chances fell to Green and Roberts. The 2nd half brought an improved performance from Finchfield and they bossed the possession. With only a goal gap the tension started to show in the Old Wulfs play. Jones blocking a Finchfield short. At the other end Old Wulfs still looked good on the break and created a series of half chances. Gray had a short corner goal disallowed for not hitting the backboard. Finchfield were then reduced to 10 men after one of their players was yellow carded for talking back to the umpire. This seemed to free the Old Wulfs and after a series of chances Tustin fired in a rebounded shot. A good team performance from the lads and a welcome 3 points to take us out of the relegation zone. Man of the match - Roberts and Gray were creative in the middle, Jones was a bundle of energy, Tustin worked well out wide, Craddock and Green made some good runs but for the 2nd week running our defensive midfielder stole the show. A disciplined performance from young Andy Cooper breaking up play and showing good distribution. |
