Match Report | Today we welcomed the arrival of 3rd place Hampton. On a semi frozen pitch Old Wulfs started brightly and could have been in the lead in the 1st minute, however the skipper fluffed his pass to an umarked green the chance disappeared. Hampton started getting into their stride and their young side took control of the game. A goal on the break put them 1-0 up. Another chance before the interval was converted toput Hampton 2-0 up. Hampton went down to 10 men after a Dillworth clearance caught the attacker above his eye. (Special thanks to Coach Cooper for taking the young man to the Hospital and waiting with him for the arrival of his father). The skipper had a chance to pull one back but his shot was saved by the keeper. Old Wulfs lost Jones to injury just before the break, the skipper moved into defence. Hampton down to 10 men were still the slicker outfit and continued to boss the game in the 2nd half. A 3rd goal soon followed and then a cross come shot found it way into the far post for a 4th. Poor defending from the skipper allowed Hampton in for the 5th. Old Wulfs finally got on the scoresheet with a good passing move finished by Haselum. Old Wulfs shared equal possession with Hampton for the rest of the game but their passsing game and the dynamism of their talented youngsters was superior. Another defeat to leave us at the halfway mark of the season in a precarious position. Man of the Match- No obvious contenders today as the team toiled in the cold. However for effort I'll award it to Adam Tustin. |
