3rd Team Vs Stone

Today brought the visit of Stone in a relegation 6 pointer. Sickness and unavailability robbed us of some of our more experienced players. The team lined up with 6 u21's in the ranks.

The game couldn't have started any better for Old Wulfs, straight from the start Stone passed the ball back, the defender was robbed by Frost who beared on goal and shot, the keeper saved but the rebound fell to Thompson who despatched. 1-0 in less than a minute, an amazing start.

Stone were far from downhearted and played the better hockey in the first half. They forced a number of short corners and despatched one from a follow up shot. 1-1 at half time and we were being bossed by the team below us in the table.

The second half was a more open affair, both sides enjoyed possession in the last third but couldn't make another breakthrough. The defences were largely on top and the best chances of goals came from the short corners both teams squandered (Dillworth in fine form).

The game finished level, our youngsters enjoyed a fair amount of possesion but today lacked a cutting edge and had a tendency to hold onto the ball too long. Many of the team hadn't played togther before, there was still some promising play from messers Magan, Cooper Jr, Hodgetts, Haselum (get a better alarm clock) and Frost

The defence was a solid unit with Dillworth, Hill, Rai, Savage and the skipper (emergency central defender for the day) mopping up any signs of trouble.

Man of the Match - Upton and Thompson ran their hearts out in the midde, the defence were solid and in particular Rai had his best game of the season and deservedly is this weeks Man of the Match.
