Match Report

The first game of the season bought a hard earned but slightly fortunate win.

From an early short corner the skipper earned a penalty stroke when his goalbound shot was stopped by the defenders foot. Roger Cooper despatched the chance.

North Staffs took a foothold in the game and carved out many oppurtunities. A goal was disallowed for an earlier Old Wulfs infringement. Old Wulfs inadvetently gave the opposition the best chance of the game when an attempted aerial from Cooper found its way off course into the D, Savage lost the ball in the sun and the ball was slipped past the goalkeeper for a certain open goal, however Hill was on hand to clear the ball away from the shocked attacker.

The 2nd half brought much the same pattern of play, but North Staffs couldn't convert their chances, Dillworth stopping everything.

At the end of the game the skipper managed to get clear of the defence at the half way line, as he approached the area the defenders got back alongside, the ball was rolled past the keeper toward the goal, but one of the defenders prevented the goal.

Man of the Match - Good displays from the defence, plenty of energy from the midfield but for the 3rd week running the MOM was our keeper Ian Dillworth.
