Match Report | Sunny Saturday for a trip to fellow mid tablers Bromsgrove. We managed an unchanged side which looked strong. Joe made it in time for Ed’s inspirational pre match talk for the second week in a row. However we started half asleep and were quickly a goal down. When we managed the equaliser the reaction was subdued as we were clearly capable of better. We managed to play to a better level for a 10 minute period before half time to enable to take 3-1 lead into half time. We had managed a number of decent balls into the opposition D but hadn’t capitalised upon those chances. The Bromsgrove goals before and after half time were largely from Short Corners and were reasonably well taken. Again certainly Jake could do little about them. After half time we took a 4- 2 lead. With Martin and Owen continuing to combine well however we then seemed to relaxed like a stoned University student and enabled the opposition to score again. The reaction was better and we slotted away goals with the result being a 6-4 victory.
The forwards were rightly happy with Martin and Owen having bagged a hat trick each. Owen in particular had a nose for goal and was unlucky with other chances. The defence again appropriately were less satisfied and the scoreline flattered the opposition but to quote the skipper in response “ what do you want me to say we won- be happy”. Quite correct. Man of the Match Owen Shave.
