Match Report

We had a good strength side out against promotion chasing Bloxwich who had drubbed us 7 – 0 in the away match earlier in the season.

After a slightly scrappy start we took an early lead through Owen. Rob Hemmings played a couple of excellent pinpoint long passes with one finding Chris Tibble who managed a lovely reverse stick conversion. Martin Jandu then slotted away a short corner to give a 3 -0 half time lead.

The second half was comically delayed as nobody seemed to know whose push back it was. When we finally started Owen seemed to be in festival hockey mode and generously gave the ball intentionally straight to the opposition. Thereafter we continued to push hard and soon were 4 – 0 up after another goal from Owen. Chris Tibble then notched up his second also.

With a 5 -0 lead the opposition was becoming dispirited and their keeper may be disappointed with our last goal when Martin again converted a short corner for a convincing 6 -0 scoreline. Martin had another effort at goal which hit the post and saved him the expense of the Hat trick scorers jug and left us just short of cancelling out the first leg result.

Bloxwich were at times aggrieved and were prone to moans but that was reflective of the scoreline which they had not anticipated. Jake Rowlands was in fine form and they probably deserved a goal but aside from one or two individual errors the defence remained very solid. Louie was in especially fine form and snuffed out any potential danger down our left side. All the goal scorers played well but Man of the Match went to Louie.
